Additional Modules

uniFLOW Output Manager is extendable with various extra modules enhancing the core accounting functionality. From helping you to run your in-house print room efficiently to securing printing features, uniFLOW really is the smart option for an output management system.
uniFLOW Output Manager
The heart of uniFLOW is the Output Manager, providing full audits from devices on your print server, assigning costs to a department, user or project code. From the moment they send the job to the printer, users can select a project or cost code. Utilising the built-in intelligence of Canon’s iR devices, uniFLOW Output Manager lets you track all your copy, print, and fax jobs directly from the multifunctional device. This information can then be accessed and viewed with the built-in statistics engine. The reports can show everything from who is printing and how much it is costing you and can be configured so they are sent as an email automatically.
Its core functionality can be added to with the addition of one or more of the following modules:

Desktop Accounting
With the Desktop Accounting module letting you extend the accounting capability to all local connected devices or printers which can be accessed directly over your network without the need of a print server allowing you to track each device around your office regardless of how users print to it.
Remote Printer Server
Remote Printer Servers are added where organisations have multiple locations or multiple print servers. This means complete control across all output devices. Using Remote Printer Servers allows you to keep the print traffic on your local network whilst sending the accounting report back to your central database for a complete overview of activity.
Load Balancing
Load Balancing with uniFLOW allows you to place access restrictions on printers. For example, uniFLOW can be configured to allow printing small jobs to a laser printer on a user’s desktop but automatically route larger jobs to the more cost efficient Canon multifunctional device a few meters away. In the event of a problem, Load Balancing can divert output to alternative devices, so the productivity of staff is not affected.

Server Clustering
Server Clustering allows uniFLOW to run on a clustered Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server environment ensuring the highest degree of system load balancing behavior and failover protection.
Secure Printing
The Secure Printing provides companies with effective security mechanisms to control the output of sensitive documents. They are held on your server and can only be retrieved from the printing device using an appropriate identification method - ideal for sensitive information.
Identification Methods
Many different identification systems can be integrated with uniFLOW, to provide maximum flexibility such as:
-
Chip card readers
-
Fingerprint readers
-
Keyboard entry
-
Magnetic card readers
-
Contactless card readers
There are also possibilities to use an existing identification card mechanism such as a door entry system.

MEAP Functionality
uniFLOW is easily configured providing management and cost control for universities and schools as well as public domains such as libraries.
With the addition of the Java based MEAP technology interface, a user can access a list of all the jobs on a particular device control panel and select the ones they want to print. Shared jobs such as company forms, from a central archive can also be highlighted and printed on demand.
Complete control for education environments
Whether you are a vast university with thousands of students or a small primary school, uniFLOW assists you with your printing and copying costs. A system that helps recovers costs and control waste is a welcome addition when budgets are becoming ever smaller. uniFLOW gives students account limits allowing them to copy or print so that once their credit runs out, so does their ability to print.
Higher and Further Education
Whether a student wants to use a printer in the computer room or a photocopier in the library, giving students the ability to pay in advance and storing the funds in a central system ensures printing or copying pages throughout a campus without worrying over separate accounts.
Primary and Secondary Education
It is difficult to have students paying for their print jobs in this environment. However, uniFLOW can be utilized with an "acceptable use" policy allowing each student access to print a certain number of pages per day, week or term. This way it can cut cost spiraling out of control if the student abuses the system available to them.
Staff Printing
You can enable staff to print without restrictions making sure costs are charged back to their department. If a member of staff teaches in multiple faculties, at print time, they can select which department to charge the prints to.
uniFLOW allows the addition of extra modules which can be configured to provide a complete production workflow ideal for central print rooms and print shops.
Job Ticketing
Job ticketing enables users to communicate clear instructions to print room or print shop operators by filling in an on-screen order menus linked to their document.
Web Queue Management
Web Queue Management enables operators to access the central queue for incoming print jobs, and then direct jobs to the most appropriate print device. At this point, uniFLOW interprets the print job and modifies it according to the output device specified. The relevant print accounting information is then stored in a central database.
Internet Gateway
Print shops that accept jobs for processing via the web will benefit from the secure wide area solution Internet Gateway. uniFLOW comes with an on-line accounting, job ticketing, pricing and PDF preview functionality.
Document Archiving
Full print jobs can be archived for later retrieved. Archiving information incorporates always having a job ticket, making sure that when the time comes to check a customer’s original specification there will be no mistakes if a query arises.
PDF Workflow
With this functionality, print room operators can preview PDFs of jobs, saving money and tme by providing accurate proofs, prior to printing.
Load Balancing
With Load Balancing you can minimize output costs by ensuring jobs are allocated to printers incurring the lowest copy costs to maximise profitability and to send jobs to relevant output devices when they contain black and white or mixed colour pages.
