DMC - providing Kingspan Insulation with cost-effective Document Management:
Service and support were high on the agenda for Kingspan. “It is the added value offered by DMC that
sets them apart as a supplier and partner. Extensive product knowledge, a good team of engineers,
adherence to timescales and very quick delivery, make DMC a natural fit for Kingspan.”

Richard Wenham
Kingspan Insulations

Company background

The Kingspan Group plc was formed in 1970, a publicly quoted group of companies with headquarters in Kingscourt, County Cavan, Ireland. It is now one of Europe’s fastest growing building product groups. Within the Group, and benefiting substantially from its resources and high level of support, Kingspan Insulation specialises in solving insulation problems through a wide range of
insulants, unsurpassed by those available from other competing UK or Irish manufacturers.

Three strategically located manufacturing sites in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands, contribute to Kingspan Insulation’s commitment to supplying flexibility and rapid customer response. And now, following an extensive investment programme, the company has further consolidated its industry leading position by providing the ultimate in product flexibility through its Kingspan Kooltherm Krange and Therma Range of products – all CFC- and HCFC-free and with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).

Making choices

As part of the company’s ongoing review of their operations, Kingspan Insulation examined their general printing and photocopying needs and costs.

Usage was growing rapidly, mirroring the fast growth of the business. After some comprehensive analysis and research into the supplier market, they awarded the contract to DMC. Not only did DMC excel in the area of network printers and implementation, but demonstrated extensive product knowledge, both in sales and engineering. The engineers were “firstclass”, said Richard Wenham, at Kingspan Insulations.

Smiling accountants

From the analysis carried out, DMC provided a specification which proved invaluable. First, they carried out an audit of Kingspan’s print processes to establish their overall print usage, breaking it down by, for example, individual user and type of item printed.

This information was then used by DMC to provide Kingspan with details of cost savings. They looked into the company’s operations and, over a period of time, evaluated not only the cost effectiveness of their document production but also their efficiency and productiveness.

This has contributed to a new ethos in Kingspan’s document production. “DMC made recommendations based on the results of their audit. What they suggested made a lot of sense,” says Richard Wenham. “They showed us where improvements were possible, provided specifications, and supplied more efficient state-of-the-art equipment, tailored to our actual needs, to help us make the necessary changes. All of this has enabled us to make efficiency gains and has given us more of a handle on our costs.”

Making the effort

As an added bonus, the excellent sales support Kingspan received from their DMC salesperson ensured that they could keep up to date with any price benefits offered by manufacturers.
