General Practice reduces downtime with new Canon devices

The Moat House Surgery is currently a five partner practice, working from purpose built premises and offering high quality family medicine.

Founded in 1894, the Moat House Practice has been caring for the people of Merstham for over a century. Their premises have been modernised, enabling them to expand the range of health care services on offer.

The Challenge

Although Moat House Surgery had been provided with numerous devices free of charge by the Clinical Support Unit (CSU), the practice was left to source and purchase all consumables for these machines itself. This proved not only time consuming but also financially draining for the surgery.

The practice was having repeated issues regarding the reliability of its existing fleet, which consisted of numerous manufacturers and models. When these devices would break down, it could take weeks to have them fixed and often they would merely be replaced with other ageing devices that had faults of their own.

Moat House was looking for an all-inclusive solution with automatic toner ordering and preventative maintenance to relieve the pressure from its own staff. Finally, the surgery was looking to improve security and protect its prescription paper from being lost or stolen, a requirement by the CQC (Care Quality Commission).

A managed print solution (MPS) was implemented by DMC Canotec. This solution includes twenty one desktop devices, a single multifunctional device as well as a number of scanners. This MPS solution gives the IT department greater control over the surgery’s print output and delivers a joined up approach to the document lifecycle.

The new devices within the practice are faster and more robust than the previous solution, making them much better suited to the GP environment. This, along with the fixed service level agreement provided by DMC Canotec, helps reduce downtime and avoid disruption to the surgery.

In addition DMC Canotec provided cassette locks on all prescription paper drawers for an added level of security, bringing the surgery in line with CQC compliance regulations.

With a managed service from DMC Canotec we are getting so much more for our money.
